Jan TECH Squad

OPEN HOUSE CANCELLED

I hope everyone has gotten the message about my OPEN HOUSE being cancelled. I have been side-lined by an eye infection!! It is getting better, but I have my 4th appointment with the opthamologist tomorrow, so my pocketbook is NOT getting better... I'm unable to focus very well with the infected eye, so no driving ... and it's "driving me nuts" not being able to go do the things I need to do!

My TECH Squad has been rescheduled for Wednesday, December 16 at 2:00 or 6:00 p.m. Please RSVP by Monday, Dec. 14 at the latest so I have time to make the kits!

Paper Bag book class

Class: Paperbag Book

My lime green paperbag book is ready to go ... Here is the front of the book.

Each book contains 4 paperbags, and two acrylic covers. Paperbags are open to the right end so that tags can be placed inside, to give you room for more pictures. The final tag has 5 page protector pockets, which will give you room for 10 more pictures. Each one of the 8 pages gives you room for at least one 4 x 6 pictures, more if you crop them smaller!

Kits have been prepared for the pre-orders. If you would like a kit to put together on December 2 at poki's house, 6:30 p.m., please RSVP no later than Monday at noon! (It takes quite a while to cut a kit!!!)

Now I have to work on the Poinsettia book!

One of the projects I have planned for December TECH requires a photo from you. Please do either of these things:

1. Bring a photo with you to TECH which we can cut down to 1 1/4" square (just a face) OR

2. E-mail me a photo which I can adjust to fit the 1 1/4" square. Be sure to include your last name in the photo name (i.e. Sawyerpix.jpg but use your last name, not mine!) I will adjust the photo to fit the square and print it for you and have the image cut to size before you get here! THIS IS THE METHOD I PREFER!

We will be making a Christmas ornament with the photo - many of my customers said they are bringing a pet picture! I plan on doing a couple of pet ornaments for a friend, but these will be on their way in the mail by the time we have TECH so I guess I'll just be forced to put Blake on my sample!

Killeen Retired Teachers auction a SUCCESS!

Thanks to my generous and talented friends (specifically Debra R, Mary S, BJ Taylor, Kathy G, Heather A, Pam H - and many others with whom I have swapped cards over the years) I was able to place 30 packs of cards in the auction today - THEY ALL SOLD! I'm not sure what our total was - somewhere around $130 I think! The auction raised at least $400 (I think) - when I know for sure I will post the total!

Paper Bag book

I am beginning the process of designing the Paper Bag books for class on Dec. 2 at 2:00 and 6:00 p.m. Fee is $15. There will be two different designs, one whimsical with lime green and red, the other a little more formal with poinsettias. If you are interested in making the books (they may or may not be completed on Nov. 11!!) please let me know which style you would like. There are 4 books available in each style.

If you would like to do both of them, I will give you a price break on the second one - two books for $25 (saves you $5)

If I have more than 4 participants for either of the designs, I have additional product that can be substituted and stay within the style! Color family and style will remain the same, there will just be a different base for the book.

Be sure to check out the two bags (or books, if I should happen to get them done by Nov. 11) - I will definitely have the base books made. Just don't know if the embellishments will happen in time!

We found it!

With a little "help from my friends" (thanks, Cathie!) we found the texture tool that I love so much to create the shabby backgrounds. I have ordered a dozen!!! The first 10 people who tell me they want one can have it for $2.50 (or less - depending on what my final cost is! ) + Tx sales tax. Let me know if you are interested in getting one of the 10 that will be available to purchase! I'm keeping 2 since the one I have is almost completely worn out!

Heart of Texas Scrapbook Club's Croptoberfest

I just returned from a weekend retreat with the Heart of Texas Scrapbook Club. We had our first ever DIGITAL ART category in our Scrapbook Arts Show! I created my layout as part of the sketch contest which raises money for our charity, but didn't win in that category. I re-submitted in the Scrapbook Arts Show, and took first place with my Layout.

I was lucky enough to find all the elements and paper in DSO's Color Challenge for August 2008.

Flowers - The flowers in the photos were tucked into "Secret Gardens" at the homes of some of the 700 permanent residents on Ocracoke Island NC - a beautify CLEMATIS (purple); and amazing IRIS (burgundy), and a tiny view of the massive AZALEAS (hot pink). We were definitely in photo op heaven!

There is a NEW stamp set coming out which I think will be PERFECT for the Gratitude Journal originally scheduled for October 21. A surprise for poki

TAC hosts contests for demonstrators each month - I've had it on my goal list each year to enter more contests, but I've only entered 3 times. I didn't win, but the goal was to enter, so ... I actually thought the project I sent in for the Feb 1 contest this year was cool. You did to - we did it for Sept TECH 2008. Here is TECH Squad version from last Sept.

For the February 2009 contest, I entered another version made with Pop Rockz into the contest called "Pocket Full of Love" using a Special Promotion stamp set called "Soul Kisses." I loved it, but sadly it didn't win! I looked for it at Seminar, but it was no where to be found! I was a little disappointed, because I thought it was a COOL PROJECT and my own design!!!

Obviously TAC thought it was a COOL PROJECT too, and included it in the Inspiration Avenue as one of the Project Cards in the back of the catalogue. TAC's version is made with Winchester, but I'm proud to say that they listed me as INSPIRATION for this project. I am excited!

I am thrilled with the new Inspiration Avenue - I made my wish list over the weekend - it's long! There are 42 NEW stamp sets in the book, and a few old favorites back for an ENCORE!
