TAG Card design

I will be attending the Texas Angel Gathering in San Antonio on November 7 - 8. Our project this time is a "shoebox" kit. Each Angel attending the event, designs a card and supplies the paper and embellishments in a kit. I finished my card the other night! I am amazed at my creative output this week since I have DEADLINES! At the moment the deadline is Nov. 12 (when we leave for Denver for a week) but I believe I will have some of my post Denver stuff done before I go! (Since my first deadline after returning on Nov 19 is on Nov 21, I guess I just better stay geared up!)

Here is the card I "created" for TAG - it's hard to tell from the picture, but it is the z-fold card like we made in May at TECH. I just changed the shape of the front art!

In my production frenzy, I have completed all of the projects for November TECH, and have started putting pieces together for December! AMAZING!
Be sure to RSVP for November TECH Squad on Nov 5 at 2:00 or 5:30 pm so that I will have an accurate count! Thanks!

Butterfly Project

One of my customers sent a link to The Butterfly Project at the Holocaust Museum of Houston, thinking it might be something that I would want to partcipate in - and she's right! I will definitely be adding a piece of artwork in an effort to help them have 1.5 million butterflies for their exhibit in 2012! Check it out, and participate if you can!

http://hmh.org/minisite/butterfly/index.html

Fabulous weekend

I just "returned" from a fabulous weekend Retreat with the HOTS Club. (It's hard to say returned, because I spent my nights at home!) As always, it was a well-planned, well-executed event. Our routine is in place - we follow what has worked before, and everyone has a great time!
I was able to finish two projects - a butterfly calendar for a prop swap gift exchange at Texas Angel Gathering on November 7 (you will get a chance to see than one at the next TECH Squad) and a Lighthouse calendar as a birthday gift for a friend. The Butterfly calendar was entered in the art show, and came really close to winning a prize! Will post a picture when I have uploaded them to the computer (The cameras are still packed and sitting just inside the front door - today I must put all that stuff away!)
I was glad to see that the Hilton Garden Inn (where the Retreat is held) now has FREE WI-FI so I was able to keep up with e-mail, etc. Didn't get much digital scrapping done, but I was able to show some of my projects to friends. There was actually another table of 4 where 3 of 4 worked digitally for the weekend! Hopefully by the next Retreat, I will have plans in place so that my entry in the ART SHOW will be created digitally/shown digitally! That's my goal by March 6 - 8! (The dates of the next HOTS Club event)

New PINK Bind It all

The manufacturers have now redesigned the Bind It All tool to have a PINK body style. The tool looks and works exactly the same, yet has a couple of new features. The new design is able to punch through thickers material, and has an extension on the paper guide bar and plate. It is now a soft PINK instead of the original turquoise blue. The packaging that the product will arrive in is also slightly different. The new color helps to distinguish the newer version of the Bind It All from the older versions. The new Bind It All pricing will be $80.95. The Angel Company will no longer carry the older version blue Bind It All, effective immediately!

I have rescheduled TECH Squad for October 15 at 2:00 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. (I need a little extra time on the 15th since I will spend the night at mom's on the 14th so TECH will be a 2:00 p.m.) "Home Paper Bag book" will be on Octboer 22 at 5:30 p.m. only! Project cards

The Fall Supplement includes some GREAT project ideas using the stamp sets in the supplement. poki will be making her customers who attend October TECH Squad on October 8 a set of the cards from the Fall Supplement (since I won't have any to give away - I have one for everyone to look at, and the supplement can be seen on line!) If you RSVP for October, you can expect a set of the cards to add to your TECH file!

I really liked these little circle cards made with a new set called seasonal icons T3015 $21.95 in the Fall Supplement. These would make great gift tags for Christmas, birthdays, etc - and the idea could be adapted to make gift tags for almost any occasion with the use of other small stamps. The Valentine heart is approx 1 1/4" tall - largest acrylic block specified 1 1/2 x 4"

KRTA Auction coming soon!

Each year during the month of November, the Killeen Retired Teacher's Association hold a silent auction during our luncheon meeting. 100% of the funds raised from this auction are used to purchase books to give to childrend in KISD. Last year, we purchased and distributed over 2000 to children in Killeen - any my friends and I contributed to the funds needed to purchase these books, by donating cards to be auctioned off to raise money for the Book Fund. I normally package the cards by theme in groups of 5 cards + envelopes. I place a minimum of $3 on these card packs, but generally they are hotly contested items and raise well more than the minimum requested bid!
If you would like to help me with this project, please bring your donations to poki no later than October 31 (October TECH Squad day would be perfect - October 13) I will then arrange the cards by theme and package them for the auction!
Not only will you make a group of chldren happy - they'll get a book of their own to keep! - but these cards also make a group of RETIRED TEACHERS very happy as well. They love our handmade cards! I've had members tell me as early as January, following the auction in November that they NEED more cards! Please help if you can!
If you can't make it to TECH Squad on October 13, but would like to donate cards & envelopes, please let poki know by phone or e-mail (poki04@aol.com) She will be happy to pick up your donations!
Thanks for your consideration and generous donations in the past and future! poki

My OPEN HOUSE survey

So far I have found 7 surveys completed by guests at my OPEN HOUSE on Wednesday. It wasn't a TEST - although a few people agonized like it was a test! smile - I really just wanted information about where you would like to see our projects go. There were 6 questions, 5 of which gave me valuable insight into the future of the TECH Squad. Here is what I discovered, and will work to include these in future TECH Squad plans!

FAVORITE STAMP SET
happy day p. 64
butterfly swirls p. 53
simply divine p. 62
wild for you p. 55
no bunny like you p. 49
flutterby p. 43
(My oldest favorite - we used it a couple times last year,
and it will be out again in August!
decorative corners p. 27
(This one is new to this catalogue,
but I already have it! - I liked it too!)

I own all but one of those sets, so I will work on incorporating them into future projects!

FAVORITE RETURNING PAPER COLLECTION
Amberley Grace p. 22
Catelynne p. 68
Toodle Loo p. 54
Miss Moxie p. 30
Winchester p. 42
Winchester was my favorite until the Spring & Summer '08 introduced Amberley Grace! We have used all but Toodle Loo & Catelynne in projects this past year, but I will continue to plan on using these collections you love!
FAVORITE NEW PAPER COLLECTION
Penelope p. 14
Willoughby p. 18
Angelee p. 50
Reece p. 98
That's all of them, so I guess you want to try them all this year! I'll work on that!
Looks like I have some HOMEWORK!

A "Rising Star"

My manager and friend, Paula Kay, received a "Rising Star" Award for her many accomplishments in The Angel Company during the last catalogue year, one of them being the 11th highest sales in the company! Congratulation, Paula Kay! You deserve to wear that crown!

One of the most interesting projects I saw at Seminar!

This was I believe the most impressive project that I saw at Seminar - I can wait to make one! I know just what photos I want to put in it - the lighthouses from May 2008 trip to Atlantic Coast. The palette used in this project is one of my favorite collections - Hemingway! I've already ordered the decorative corners T-2940 $10.95, pg 27. First orders from new catalogue will begin shipping on July 1, so if I'm lucky enough, I will have even more new product to show you when you come to the OPEN HOUSE on July 9.

Inspiring Idea!

Check out this INSPIRING IDEA on page 74 of the new TAC catalogue! It comes complete with instructions on how to make one for yourself or a gift!

We got a chance to check out some of the catalogue features up-close-and-personallly during our morning session on Friday, June 20 at the TAC seminar!

Four Generations of Angels

Paula Kay and poki attended our Upline's Team Meeting at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 19 at the Hyatt Regency in Wichita, Kansas. This picture shows FOUR GENERATIONS of ANGELS: left to right

It was nice to finally meet Kelly. I met Annette in 2007 - everybody meets Annette, don't you know!

We're home!

It was a long day, but Paula Kay and poki arrived in Temple about 3:20 this afternoon. I'm home, the car is unloaded, and I'm ready for a NAP (but have to go to Wal Mart first!)
We did so many great projects - I can't wait to share them with you. I will post some pix when I get them loaded on my desktop computer in the morning! I just know that you are going to love the direction that The Angel Company is going! Great new kits, more luscious papers, 35 new stamp sets and some new tools and embellishments as well!

Friday's Work/Play

Fearless Scrapbooking Break out Session project with Shayla on Saturday! Paper is Miss Moxie!
Friday was a busy day here at The Angel Company Seminar 2008. Michelle Smith, the owner of the company, gave the Welcome Address - all her own (she didn't let anyone know in advance what she planned to say - not even her husband Kevin!) Our afternoon was spent with 3 Break Out classes, and 10 Make-n-Take projects. I was admazed to finish all of the projects with 30 minutes to spare. I even beat Paula Kay! Amazing!!!

Saturday has 4 Break Out sessions - we had one before lunch, and 3 more this afternoon. Will post pictures and information when I get home!

Talk to you again later tonight!

Visit to Mrs. O'Leary's Mercantile, Old Town Wichita

After we arrived in Wichita about 3:15 p.m. and checked into the Hyatt, Paula Kay and poki went to a very eclectic stamp store in Old Town Wichita called Mrs. O'Leary's Mercantile, part stamp store/part gift shop. There was an AMAZING amount of merchandise in the store. Of course, we had to check out the CLEARANCE room - we both found things for projects to come. We also went back on Thursday evening for Make-n-Takes and then had dinner downtown at Old Chicago! Seminar officially begins on Friday at 8:30 a.m. We're all really anxious to see the new catalogue - and get to do some projects using new products. Will post again on Friday evening with pictures of samples.

TAC Seminar

Paula Kay and I arrived in Wichita about 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday - easy, but long, drive! I have swapped all the cards that I made, so my "swap frenzy" is over for the weekend! Seminar OFFICIALLY begins at 8:30 a.m. on Friday morning. PK got to see the new catalogue for about 7 minutes during the CLUB MED lunch, but they took it back! We get our catalogue to keep at the General Session in the morning. Tomorrow will be spent in Make-n-Takes and 3 Pull-out sessions. They have arranged it so that we can do EVERYTHING if we want to! I hope that is true. I will photograph what I can and send pix later. I got wi-fi from T-Mobile through Sunday morning when we leave! More to follow!

Even GREATER news!

There will NOT be surgery for poki on Wednesday! Dr. Smith (the hand surgeon) changed the diagnosis - and the change requires watching and waiting a little longer. If you want to know more, I'll tell you later, but for now I will be watching and waiting. The great part is NO SURGERY next week!

Great News

I found out today that orders from the NEW Angel Company catalogue will begin being accepted on June 23, not July 1 as I told you the other day at TECH! If you just can't possibly wait until July 9 to see the new catalogue, give me a call so you can come by and check out the new catalogue and begin your collection! (Remember that I will not be home on June 25 or 26 - surgery on 25, and going home to spend the night and next day at my mom's house in Killeen!)

I found something new

Please check out the link called "Life is a Beach" on the right hand side of the blog. I will take you to Bubbleshare where you can view all of the pages in my waterfall paperbag book called "Life is a Beach!" I will be adding future albums to my blog when I return from seminar. If you are interested in making this book sometime this summer, let me know and we will schedule a time to make it after July 9!

I've updated SOTM for July

Since I won't be placing another order in June - unless someone is desparate for something that is retiring! - I've updated the SOTM on the sidebar for JULY! There apparently will not be a VINTAGE SOTM in July 08!

Thanks for a fun day!

WOW! We had a great day playing with Walnut inks - thanks for joining us! I am hoping that product will arrive in time for delivery before I go to Seminar (we leave on Wednesday at 6:00 a.m.!) but if it doesn't, you can expect delivery on June 23 - my first day back from Kansas!
While I am at Seminar - please allow me to update you on the new product and projects via this blog. If I can get connected with "greenie" - my own computer - I will add pictures, etc., but I know I will definitely be able to send text. Be watching for it!
Talk to you soon!

The order will be here tomorrow

Late today I discovered that our order from TECH Squad should be arriving with UPS on Friday p.m. He usually gets to my house about 2:00 p.m. I will be ready to sort, and get on the road to make as many deliveries as I can:

Copperas Cove bunch - to Ingrid's house

Killeen -Heather, Beckie H, Cathie H, Ashley to I Scrapbook

Harker Heights - Diana, Pat

Temple - Jacque

Debby will pick up her order from my porch while I am gone on my "whirlwind" delivery trip!

Thanks, ladies! The checks are going in the bank Friday a.m.

Be sure to check out my vacation blog
http://www.pokisphotoprojects.blogspot.com

See you! poki

It's Tuesday already ...

There has been NO WORD about our order shipping. Paula Kay told me today that she has not received her order that she placed on May 2, so I'm thinking that the orders I placed on May 9 early will not ship and arrive in time for delivery before I go on vacation! I will be home on May 31. If I haven't been able to deliver your order before that, I will sort on Sunday, June 1 and begin delivery on Monday, June 2! I will also hold checks until Monday, June 2. (except for Cathie who told me to put it in the bank on 5/15 anyway!) I will also e-mail each of you personally about this issue!

A FIRST for The Angel Company

The Angel Company will be represented at two sites of THE GREAT AMERICAN SCRAPBOOK CONVENTION this year (Grand Rapids, MI and Chattanooga TN - not Arlington TX - probably because of the timing so close to our Seminar in June!) Although I'm sure none of us will be traveling to these conventions in July and September, if you go take a look at the class offerings in Grand Rapids you can get a PEEK at some new paper that will be in our Fall and Winter catalogue!
JUST COPY AND PASTE THIS URL - the link didn't work for me!

The classes that TAC has scheduled are
Friday 10:30 Pocket Full of Fun
Saturday 8:00 Everything
Saturday 10:30 Life Thoughts Mini Album

Check these out to get a PEEK at coming product. I hope that we will see these projects at Seminar in June in Wichita, Kansas!

Just a peek ... new stamps sets for Fall and Winter

TAC let us have a peek at some new sets that will be available in the Fall & Winter catalogue! I plan to order them as part of the Brilliant Beginnings bundle for Angel Demonstrators, so I should have them along with some new papers and project packs to show at the JULY TECH Squad meeting. These sets will not be available for customers until July 1, but I thought you might like to see them!

TECH Squad was ...fun!

Thanks to all of you who turned out for my May TECH Squad meeting! There were 17 total during the day! With 11 ladies here for the evening, poki was really very busy! I am hoping to try a new schedule for the summer, starting with the June TECH Squad day, currently scheduled for June 11. (providing I don't have my Pre-Op appointment that day!) There will be 3 sessions during the day -
11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.
2:00 - 4:00 p.m.
5:30 - 7:30 p.m.
I'm hoping that you will find a time that works for you for June, July, and August! Dates for July and August will be selected following my surgery on June 25! (I don't expect them to be different from our normal scheduled second Wednesday, but ... I will need to wait to see how my hand progresses following the procedure before I commit to anything!)
For those who don't know, I will be having an out-patient surgery on my right hand (my stamping hand, of course) to remove 3 cysts that have developed on the tendon! I noticed the first one about 3 weeks ago, and it has grown quite quickly, and been joined by two others on the same tendon! I was able to get into Orthopedics quickly (within 8 days of my visit with the Dr at S&W Killeen Clinic - which is amazing!) I requested that the surgery be postponed until after my vacation (May 17 - 31) and after my Angel Company Seminar in Kansas (June 18 - 22) so first available date was June 25. The Dr. told me that he will want my fingers moving immediately after surgery, stitches will be out in a week, and rehab on the tendon will need to begin as quickly as I can (I will be back to stamping ASAP!)
June - Walnut Ink projects! (see new schedule above)
July - OPEN HOUSE 1:00 - 8:00 p.m. Come and go! One FREE Make-n-Take August - Inspiration is bound to happen soon! (see new schedule above)

The specials are just TOO TEMPTING!

If you have been tempted by either of the special promotions that won't begin until May 9 (I have!!!) then possibly we will want to wait to place our TECH Squad order on May 9. I can be sure that it gets in before business hours on the the 9th, so it will get packed that day (I hope) and be here no later than Wednesday, May 14! If it comes by the 14th, I believe I can get it delivered before I leave on vacation!
If you don't want to wait, I can place two orders, but we will want to make sure we can maximize the orders to get the best deal on shipping and awards!

Your memories have met their "match!"

The Angel Company has created a Limited Edition stamp set "True Wealth" to be included in a special Pemberly Bay Matchbook promotion. In this package you will receive a Pemberley Bay Matchbook Kit (retail $8.95) True Wealth stamp set pictured below (Retail price $19.95) and a Rockin' Roxie Matchbook Kit (retail $8.95) - all for the unbelievable price of $28.90! This special will be available May 9 - June 16 only! Such a deal!

May 08 promotion!

During 2007, this bright and beautiful Class Soar With It Collection, Bella Flor, was retired from the TAC catalogue. While supply last it is returning as a May 2008 Special promotion. It's regular price was $19.95, but while the supply lasts it will be priced at $10.00. That's amazing for this beautiful collection, perfect for Mother's Day or Spring projects. Be sure to order it at TECH Squad on May 7, so you can have this beautiful palette to play with!

New promotions for May!

Another new set of "Big on Fun Limited Edition" sets - these stamp sets are smaller than the originals, but on $2.95 per set with a qualifying purchase of $30. They will be available beginning May 9! If someone at TECH really wants them I can wait to place your order on May 9, but it may or may NOT arrive in time for delivery before I leave for vacation (on May 17)! They are available through June 16, so we can also get them at the June TECH Squad day!

I am pleased with my progress

I have my Family Frame class ready to go - just waiting for my 3 friends at 1:00 p.m. next Wed., April 30 (Diana, Cathie, & Karen) and my 5 friends at 5:30 p.m. (Lynn, Mary, Kathy, Kim & Beckie) to come on out for the fun!

I also stayed up LATE last night after class and worked on kits for TECH Squad on May 7 - I have designed all the cards, finished cutting kits. All that's left is to organize the supplies, but that has to wait until after Saturday's crop at Copperas Cove High School, and also has to wait until after the class on Wednesday.

But I'm amazed ... I'm usually working on kits the day before! Can't wait to share these fun SCOR-PAL projects with you. Please remember, if you have a Scor-Pal bring it along to TECH Squad on May 7. You will enjoy the projects so much more if you don't have to wait to use a Scor-pal. Also bring adhesive for your card-making! We will be doing 5 samples, 3 finished cards, and a folder to carry it all home!

See you soon! poki

Birthday List Journal class TODAY

The class for the Birthday List Journal is today at 5:30 p.m.
April 23 5:30 p.m. - Jacque J, Lynn C, Kathy G, Kim F, Mary S, Diana K

Don't forget the Crop at Copperas Cove High School on Saturday, April 26! See upcoming events on right side for contact information!

Heather came out on Saturday to do the Family Frame - I really like the look with the die cut word! And I'm happy to report that Mike was able to find the acrylic frame pieces at the Home Depot at Howard Lane in Austin (down the street from the Dell Factory where he works) so I now have enough pieces for the class on April 30. Both the Killeen store and the Temple store were OUT OF STOCK. If he hadn't found them yesterday, I would be spending Thursday doing a tour of Home Depot stores between here and Austin! (and that are lots of things that I would RATHER do!)
April 30 1:00 p.m. Cathie H, Diana K, Karen B
April 30 5:30 p.m. Beckie H, Lynn C, Kathy G, Kim F, Mary S

Are you out there?

I was hoping my friends and customers had been reading my blog, and would come up with the "words to know" on April 9. Sad to say no one did!!! I have all those great PRIZES I made just going to waste!

I passed out an information sheet to my participants yesterday with some links to Angel Company sites that might be of interest to my customers. For those who didn't make it, I am posting the list here as well. Be sure to check out these great project pages:

Spring Supplement - it shows all the stamps sets and the project card ideas. (If you have trouble downloading the card pages, e-mail poki to have them wing your way!)
http://www.theangelcompany.net/springsupplement.html

Savvy Projects - This is Michelle Smith's bog (she is owner of The Angel Company) She has been posting some great projects and ideas lately!
http://www.theangelcompany.typepad.com/tac_savvy_projects_for_de/

Demonstrator Contest winners - The Angel Company hosts a contest every month for demonstrators, although we prefer to be called "Angels." Contest winners are posted here:
http://www.theangelcompany.net/contestwinners.html

Featured Art Work - more great project ideas using TAC product.
http://www.theangelcompany.net/FeaturedArtwork.html

We were "showered" with flower projects

I had a great time sharing my flower projects with the TECH Squad yesterday. I really appreciate the customers who came out on such a dreary day! I hope your day was brightened with the flowers. It was fun!
Orders were completed about 9:30 this morning, and the product should be winging it's way to us shortly! I will get it delivered as quickly as I can.
I've started making decisions about which of the many ideas I've found for the scor-pal we will be completing on May 7. I will need you to bring your scor-pal with you when you come to TECH Squad on May 7. I will be checking with participants to see who has the tool, so I will know how many I will need to borrow from friends who have them, so that everyone can work at the same time. I have found some really fun projects and samples for us to create! Hope you can join us!

Spring supplement

March may be "roaring" at us - but Spring is not far off! (My redbud tree has been blooming for over a week now!) And with Spring, comes the Spring Supplement from The Angel Company. The supplement has some great new stamp offerings, and a COOL NEW TOOL - the Crop-a-Dile II called the Big Bite! It will begin shipping from TAC on April 1! Check out the beautiful new stamp sets - I couldn't resist, I ordered a couple last weekend, and they are due for delivery today! http://www.theangelcompany.net/springsupplement.html
Just to add the "hook" (if new stamp sets and the Big Bite didn't do it!) TAC is hosting a promotion called "Celebrate!" As part of that promotion TAC is DOUBLING ALL HOSTESS AWARDS and GIFT WITH PURCHASE stamps! If you place a $100 order, you would normally receive a Level A set and a 1/2 price item (along with 20% discount on items up to $150 additional) During CELEBRATE the Level A hostess set, becomes 2 sets, and the 1/2 price item becomes two 1/2 price items. This means we can have LOTS of mystery hostesses! ($20 purchase required) If you purchase at least $30 during March or April, you are eligible for two GWP stamps! (The 20% discounts are not doubled - these are not normally in my mystery hostess awards, only on FUNshop orders)
March or April would be a great time to invite your friends over for a FUNshop! Or host a catalogue party-in-a-bag! Let me know if I can share some inspiration with you!
